1. About Academy for the Future

Academy for the Future (“AFF”) is a South African non-profit organisation established to remove financial barriers between learners and the education they need.

AFF seeks funding and donations to support eligible learners with educational needs which may include school fees, transport, nutrition, learning resources and specialised educational support.

2. Donations

Donations made through this website are voluntary contributions to Academy for the Future.

Unless a donation has been expressly accepted for a specific restricted purpose, donations may be applied by AFF where they are most needed in furtherance of the organisation's objectives and the educational support of its beneficiaries.

Where a donor elects to support a particular learner or initiative, AFF will make reasonable efforts to apply those funds toward the stated purpose, subject to the needs of the learner, availability of funding and AFF's responsibilities as a non-profit organisation.

3. Online Payments

Online donations are processed securely through PayFast, a third-party payment service provider.

All online transactions are processed in South African Rand (ZAR).

AFF does not directly store donors' full card or banking details when payments are processed through PayFast. Payment transactions are also subject to PayFast's applicable terms and security procedures. PayFast states that it is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant.

4. Recurring Donations

Where recurring donations are available, donors authorise the agreed amount to be collected at the frequency selected when making the donation.

A donor may request cancellation of a recurring donation by contacting AFF. Cancellation will apply to future payments and will not automatically reverse donations already processed.

5. Refunds

Because payments made to AFF are charitable donations rather than purchases of goods or services, donations are generally considered final once successfully processed.

If a donation has been made in error, duplicated, or an incorrect amount has been processed, the donor should contact AFF as soon as possible.

Refund requests will be considered individually. Where a refund is approved, it will ordinarily be returned through the original payment method, subject to the requirements and processing procedures of the applicable payment provider.

PayFast provides merchants with functionality to issue full or partial refunds through its payment system.

6. Section 18A Tax Certificates

Where a donation qualifies for a Section 18A tax deduction, AFF may issue the donor with a Section 18A receipt in accordance with applicable South African Revenue Service requirements.

Donors are responsible for providing AFF with the information required to issue a valid Section 18A receipt.

Not every payment or contribution necessarily qualifies for a Section 18A deduction, and the issuing of receipts remains subject to applicable legislation and SARS requirements.

7. Use of Donations

AFF is committed to applying funds responsibly and in furtherance of its stated non-profit objectives.

Support may include educational fees, transport, nutrition, learning materials, educational resources, specialised educational support and other learner-related needs consistent with AFF's objectives.

AFF reserves the right to allocate unrestricted donations according to identified learner and organisational priorities.

8. Privacy and Personal Information

AFF respects the privacy of donors, beneficiaries and website visitors.

Personal information submitted through the website will be collected and processed only for legitimate purposes, including processing donations, communicating with donors, maintaining required records, issuing qualifying tax certificates and fulfilling AFF's legal and regulatory obligations.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable South African data-protection legislation.

Further information is available in AFF's Privacy Policy.

9. Website Information

AFF makes reasonable efforts to ensure that information published on its website is accurate and current. However, information about programmes, learner needs, funding requirements and organisational activities may change over time.

Nothing on this website constitutes a guarantee that a particular programme, learner or initiative will receive a specific level of funding.

10. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the AFF name, logo, written content and original materials appearing on this website belong to Academy for the Future or are used with appropriate permission.

They may not be reproduced or used for commercial purposes without prior permission.
